Double spread for cover and last page
Petalsnow, 2/15/2006, 10:48:52 AM
Hi guys,
I have 1 question regarding my first newletter layout on double spread.
Total, there is 16 pages, which means 2 pages (Double Spread) on a piece of A3 size paper becuz it going to be staplered in the middle...
1 page = A4 size, 2 pages = A3 size

Now, question is:
I created a new DOCUMENT, and it is a single spread on top of the "page palette" then I add pages and subsequently, it turned into double spread. The thing is I want page '1' connecting to page '16' (which are the cover page and the back page)
So how can I make the "COVER PAGE + BACK PAGE" of the doc into a double spread to be printed on a piece of A3 size paper (page1 + page 16) and COULD also number them correctly (I'm using the automation page numbering using master page, shld I configurate here?) ?
Thanks a millions and happy new year!

That's a good question.
I think the easiest way would be to put the cover/backpage spread at the back of your document (back page will be on the left) and then go to the first inside spread at the top of the document, select "Numbering and Section Options" from the Pages palette menu, and start the page numbering at 2. That will make the first spread a double spread as it should be.
At this point, the cover will be Page 17 (or the number of pages in your newsletter + 1), but all you have to do is apply a master page that doesn't use page numbers, or no master page at all, to the cover. (FYI, InDesign lets you apply different master pages to individual pages in the same spread.) Covers don't usually have page numbers anyway.
If you really need to, you can make that last page (Cover) page 1 by clicking on the individual page (not the whole spread) in the Pages palette, selecting "Numbering & Section Options" from the Palette menu, check "Start Section" and set start page to 1.
