What about an editorial on helping others? Have an outbox that contains places and phone numbers that need help. I would start it with a sad story and end with a happier one, perhpas contact the crisis line, boys and girls club, big brothers big sisters to get a great story and tell how teens can help.

Or one about starting a family tradition or sharing them, passing them down?

What about a featury type of editorial that informs others of different "holidays' from Christian ones, particularly ones that might be in your area such as American Indian, Native Hawaiin, or African.

Otherwise, take a look at the School board meeting agendas and see what is going on and comment on it.
