National convention options...?

, 9/13/2005, 4:15:35 PM

I'm an assistant editor on my newspaper staff and have been looking forward to the Chicago convention since we came back from last year's nationals,in Atlanta. I just recently found out that my advisor cannot go. Since there were only a few students who were planning on going in the first place, I'm not really sure what position that puts me in. I still want to go, but going just with the other students or just my parents is not an option. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I could do? Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

Hey, we're in a similar situation-- there's a spring convention in SF so you can look into that one. I hear it's a bit different than the one in Chicago but it should still be fun.

You could see if there is another high school in your area going to the convention and get permission to tag along with them. Your advisor can vouch for your responsibility and maybe even put you into contact with another advisor who's going.

Hey guys, thanks for your help. I still haven't given up hope, but things don't look to bright. We considered the San Fransisco convention, but it just costs so much more to go. I will consider going with another high school. Thanks for your input!
