plagiarism in the office

Katie, 11/1/2005, 2:35:03 PM

Recently I became aware of a columnist who has previously been fired from another school paper for plagiarism. This person did not mention it on her application and it was never a question when the interview took place (Have you ever been fired for plagiarism?).

So... now what do I do?

Confront this person? Confront and fire this person? I am currently in the process of checking all previous columns written. I am not sure where to go from here. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hey, sorry no one responded until now. I would recommend you confront him/her (for the sake of this post, I'll assume she's female). It is entirely possible that she is not entirely aware she has been plagiarizing. Two years ago a girl was kicked off our staff for plagiarizing and no one told her why, and then at the beginning of the year she reapplies. Not an ideal situation to leave for future editors. Anyway, hope you sort it out.
