Lately, we've been recieving requests from from local strip clubs and adult novelty stores to advertise in our paper. Our policy on the content of the ads have always been up to the advertising sales managers discretion but sometimes other university staff have had issues with the ads (which by the way have no nudity, pictures or suggestive topics). I was just wondering what other schools are doing in this case or do they have any rules against or pertaining to these types of ads.
We are a university of about 9000 with a circulation of 4500.

Those ads don't run in our newspaper. No debate about it, no questions. Just a simple "no" to the advertiser and a fax/e-mail/phone call explaining our advertising rules.

Does anyone have any SET guidelines of what you do or do not allow advertisers to say? Like is "adult novelties" not okay and then "lingerie" allowed? I'm just trying to see where others draw the line.
